I was at work a while ago and a group of kids came in to the store they were ranging from about 7 to 12 years old and there was about 6 of them and they were just looking around the store innocently but they caught my atention when I heard one of them saying to the rest of them "I'm getting a Xbox 360 for christmas and that game and that game and I'm getting 500 pounds to spend." Then his friend said " I'm gonna ask my mom for this game for christmas."


The group went silent for a minute as the walked over to the Playstation section Then what looked to be the youngest of them all says to his friends "I've got that game and that one and for christmas I'm getting them two games for christmas.

Then they all left the store and I remember thinking to my self why even wrap the christmas gifts seems to me they know what they are getting anyways. I remember when I was younger I never even had a clue what I was gonna get for christmas until I ripped open the wrapping paper.

I knew what I would have liked and afew times that's what I got But My christmas gifts were alway top secret. In my opinion half the fun of christmas was trying to guess what I would have got even if I was mostly wrong but thats the fun.

The things that I'm thankful for are

I'm thankful for the most beautiful woman in the world My Jenn who love more than anything.

I'm also thankful for many hours I have been given at work this week wich will give me more money to get to my Jenn.

I'm thankful that I have good health and a good life compared to those who go without food or water or the every day things that I somtimes take for granted.

I'm thankful for my mother even though she nags alot.

I'm so thankful that me and my Jenn have been given the strenght to endure any challenge that comes our way.

I'm greatful that we found eachother and Im thankful that I have such a wonderful woman who will always stand by me and support me through thick and thin I am so lucky to have found my Jenn and I'm greatful every day for that

Myths and legends true or false Thanks giving special

This legend follows how Thanksgiving all started and I should find this one rather intresting also. Without further a do lets get started.



Ok so the tradition of thanksgiving has been a American holiday for such a long time now but what made it a American holiday where did it all begin.?

To findout we need to go to the year 1621 when a group of pilgrims had a great havesting season and decided to celebrate by having a large feast. but however this large feast was not officialy repeated until half a cetury later in 1676 when the govenor of Bradford proclaimed a second day of thanks . so how could this posibly be called the begining of Thanks giving?

The second of the feasts wasn't even considerd a Thanks giving feast by the pilgrims or colonists
infact these religious radicals had been driven in to exile and a day of thanksgiving and praying could be done any day they felt it was needed.

Actualy the second day of thanksgiving in the usa was celebrated by the dutch govoner of manhatan in 1642 Offering thanks for the first scalp bounty wich was later to include bounty for natives fit to be sold as slaves.

The Governor at the time, William Bradford, was quick to recognize the problem. This excerpt from his diary, written in the 1620s, explains all:

The failure of this experiment of communal service, which was tried...by good and honest men proves the emptiness of the theory of Plato and other ancients, applauded by some of later times, - that the taking away of private property, and possession of it in community, by a commonwealth would make a state happy and flourishing...For in this instance, community of property (so far as it went) was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment which would have been to the general benefit and comfort.

So every family was assigned a parcel of land according to the proportion of their number...It made all hands very industrious, so that much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been...and gave far better satisfaction.

Thankful for the re-institution of private property and the plenty which it provided, the Pilgrims invited their benefactors in 1621 to a three-day celebration. More than 80 "Indians" came to enjoy the festivities. They brought venison, wild turkey and other victuals. There was much singing, rejoicing and even sermons.

Thanksgiving itself is reminiscent of other harvest-time celebrations in Europe. It's character there as well as in America is deeply religious. The idea is that we thank God for the plenty of the harvest. Of course, over the years the holiday has been secularized somewhat. It is even commonly called "Turkey Day".

The first Thanksgiving in Plymouth was not meant to be an annual event. Even so, it became a custom in many New England Colonies. During the Revolutionary war Thanksgiving Days were proclaimed to celebrate victory in battle or survival in the face of adversity. After the war and the founding of the government under the U.S. Constitution, George Washington, as President, proclaimed a day of thanks.

Proclaiming a day of thanks became popular. There was no official national day, but individual states, cities and towns began to pick out a particular day every year, usually in the autumn. The state of New York was the first to do this in 1830. By the time of the Civil War thanksgiving had become a popular public event. In 1863 and 1864 President Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a "day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father."

It was at this point that the last Thursday in November became fixed in the minds of Americans as a day for giving thanks, at least until 1939 when President Roosevelt moved it up a week to make a longer Christmas season for the retail industry. Some people did not like the break with tradition and various localities refused to comply. Finally, Congress intervened and changed the holiday permanently to the "4th Thursday in November". It has been celebrated on this day ever since.

so I guess that explains it for now but what is it that carrys the traditon on

It's the great american people who know that life is a blessing and we should be thankful for every thing that is great in our life

So I guess that is how the legend began and dont just be thankful on one day be thankful every day life is the greatest gift of all and we live it every day so be thankful every day.

When you first look at this, how many colours do you see? Some might say they see 3 or even 4 colours, but there are 2 - red and green!
