Myths and legends true or false ?

This week Im going to look in to the legend of Dracula.

Dracula Is probably as well know as santa clause around the world and the legend has been alive for centuries but this is a look at what is true and false in my opinion based upon my reserch through the internet and genaral knowlege so lets get started.

The name Dracula is actualy the surname of Prince vlad the 3rd also known as the impaler who was born in Sighisoara, Transylvania in 1431 and died in 1476 at the age of 42. second son of vlad the 2nd Dracula and Cneajna of Moldavia his family lived in exile in Transylvania because his father had been ousted by pro-Ottoman boyars. before that his father had lived in Nuremburg.

So there is the stroy of the man so where did the legend of the vampire all begin. Well the charicter of count Dracula is actually taken from a book written in 1897 by the writer Bram stoker who refers to Dracula as a monster who Lives in a castle and drinks the blood of his victims and turns in to a bat has no relfection and never dies of old age.

But Dosn't that make vlad inocent of all the rumours and storys of horror I mean Bram stoker took some poor guys name and turned him In to a monster right?....WRONG!!!!.

Vlad the impaler got his name the impaler because of he cruel torture he would inflict on his enemies. He impaled thousands of people on spears and even drank the blood of his enemies
So while this man may not have been the monster that superstion diplicts he was this man was far worse he was a true monster a man who killed thousands and whos legend im sure will live on for centuries to come.

So the legend of dracula been a vampire and flying around and living forever Is busted he was just a evil man who's name has been used to entertain people.

If you have any points of view on my Myth busting then please leave a comment.

Next weeks myth is the Myth of the zombie

Myths and legends true or false ?

This blog is in relation to a dream that My Jenn had

The dream was about werewolves so I figgured I would write a blog about different Myths and legends once a week and I will even do some studying on the myth or legend in question and then try to findout if the myths or legends can be classed as true or false. The first One is a myth and Is about Werewolves so here goes.

The first recorded Werewolf sighting took place around the countryside of German town Colongne and Bedburg in 1591. An age-old pamphlet describes those shivering moments vividly. Few people cornered a large wolf and set their dogs upon it. They started to pierce it with sharp sticks and spears. Surprisingly the ferocious wolf did not run away or tried to protect itself, rather it stood up and turned out to be a middle-aged man he was Peter Stubbe from the same village.

Stubbe was put on a torture wheel where he confessed sixteen murders including two pregnant women and thirteen children. The history behind his downfall was rather bizarre. He had started to practice sorcery when he was only 12 and was so obsessed with it that even tried to make a pact with the Devil. Wearing a magic girdle he started to attack his enemies, real or imaginary. After several months, he would take the guise of a wolf and continued with his evil acts with more brutality. In the wolf form he used to tear up victims’ throats and suck warm blood from veins. Gradually his thirst for blood grew and he roamed around fields in search of prey.

This is one of many stories about werewolves but dosn't give any indication to wether the were Werewolf myth is from fact or fiction. There has never been a dead werewolf recoverd or anyone actualy seen to bee changing in to a Werewolf but there are so many tales and even movies about them so the idea must have come from somewhere.

During the middle ages in england there were many reports of packs of wolves that would roam around the country side and ocasonaly eat a lamb or a deer and it was rumor that the wolf pack would every so often eat a small child. With that in mind I cant think of a better ghost story to tell the kids than somthing along the lines of a werewolf story to stop the children from going on to the countryside alone so maybe thats it, It all started as a story to scare the children out of wondering away in to the night and on to the moors where the pack of wolves would be hunting

So it's starting to seem more and more like a myth but however what if we look into the possiblity of it been some kind of disorder kind of like out of control hair growth wich is actualy a real possibility and there is proof of that.

Here is a picture and indeed living proof of the closest thing to a werewolf and this is the result of a disorder to do with over active hair growth. so this must be where the myth of the werewolf came from mybe this happend to someone in a age where there was no cure or knowelge of the disease and so the unlucky man or even woman was called a werewolf.

So as for the person changing from humanoid in to werewolf in my opinion is a false myth
but with the evidence on this blog it's not very hard to see where the myth came from

so this myth is busted.
