My time with Jenn march/april 2014

I have been to visit my Beautiful Jenn again for the first time this year, and we had so much fun and we both lerned alot on this trip . I haven't wrote on here for a while because I have been so busy , but I have the afternoon of so I thought I would write down mine and Jenn's adventure.

I got to America on the Sunday, and stayed for two weeks.

When I get there I am usually quite tired from the journey, every time I go over I try to sleep on the plane, but the excitement and the not to comfy chairs keep me awake.
I always pick the window seat on the plane, and I spend a good portion of the flight looking out of the window and seeing the land from high up , I always look at the land and watch it go by, and I love how I start to make out the odd road , then the odd building, maybe a boat or two on the rivers, then I start to see freeways. I always see how long it will  take me to spot the first car or truck, because when I can see one of those, I know that we are slowly descending and it wont be to long till the plane lands.

One thing that always gets me is the first few minutes when I can actually feel the difference in temperature when I get of the plane.  this time the weather was quite comfortable , not to hot and definitely not to cold.

I always rush through as fast as I can, for two reasons , mainly because I want to be with my Jenn as soon as possible, and second because if I take my time, all the people from my flight get in front and i have to wait behind them all to get through customs.

Me and My beautiful Jenn did so much on this journey, I don't even know where to begin

We had almost like theme days , one of the two main ones was a Gone with the Wind day,

we visited a town where Margaret Mitchell  the lady who wrote the book had lived and saw many places that inspired her story and also learnt about the people in the book and the movie,

we visited a museum dedicated to the movie. I must admit, I am not the biggest gone with the wind fan, but it was very interesting to learn about the woman behind the book and movie and how she had actually done background research in to her story, even to the point of sitting with soldiers and talking to them and hearing their stories,  she really put a lot of time and thought in to her work.  and later that night, we sat and watched the movie,

I had never seen it all way through before , and while it was a little long I did enjoy it and even more so because I had spent the day learning all about it.

another theme day we had was, fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe

We took a trip to where the movie was filmed, and I must say this " I had Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe" ahah I cant believe I can actually say that,

we walked around the area, and saw the famous dam from the movie and visited the shops that where there, I bought some honey and Jenn did too, we even went and visited the grave that had the honey on it at the end of the movie,

and sure enough there was a pot of honey there

A really interesting part of the trip was when me and Jenn went to a small town called Jonesborough, there was a train line stretching through the small town and this line was a very important line in history, it stretched right through to Savannah and in the Civil war ran supply for the south , The north would attack it and at one point in the town of Jonesborough there was a famous Two day Battle for the track.

We also learnt about Shell Annie
One night the  artillery Of the north was positioned on a hill overlooking a small town.
they fired a shell which went straight in to the window of a Lady's house who was asleep, the shell hit her head board and woke the woman who was sleeping, the head board shattered and the shell rolled across the room in the the fire place. The lady who was pregnant was so scared it sent her in to early labour.

She asked her husband I think it was to go and find help and to ask for the North to stop the firing on the house. Her husband ran outside to find a scout of the North on his horse, The husband asked that the scout ask his commander to change the position of the cannons on the hill.

The scout rode off without a word. Ten minutes later the lady with her husband were in the bedroom, and a knock came to the door. the husband answered the door and to his surprise it was a Doctor and two solders from the northern army, the scout had rode back up the the cannons and told of the lady in labour, the commander had ordered the cannons to hold fire and aim away from the house and had sent the doctor to assist with the birth, and the soldiers to guard the house . as a thank you to the North and the doctor, the lady ask that the doctor name the child, and he named her Shell Annie, after the unexploded shell that had sent the mother in to labour.

Straight away when I head this story I thought to my self that it goes to show that even amongst great chaos, we always have the opportunity to show that we are human and have compassion, I'm not sure it that would happen in a war of today. but I can live in hope

Me and Jenn often go to restaurants and try new foods, but every time we go Jenn will always say " they do the Philly here" meaning the Philly cheese stake sandwich , she knows I love it and it always makes us laugh now when she says it.

One thing me and Jenn do love to do is look around the old graveyards, we saw many civil war graves, and ones that dated back to the 18th century. it was very interesting
We visited Dahlonega again this trip , this time though we went in search of a old
Indian princess
Trahylta's Grave

Each day cars whiz by a nondescript pile of stone north of Dahlonega, occasionally slowing to read the historic marker. The rocks are the grave of a Cherokee who loved the forest and called the mountains of North Georgia home. Trahlyta, according to legend, lived on a mountain near her grave. She was told to walk along a path, drink from the spring and wish never to grow old by the "Mountain Medicine Man" or the Witch of Cedar Mountain, depending on which legend you believe. "You will become more beautiful with each sip" the voice told her. She followed the path and drank from the spring. Word of her beauty quickly spread. Desoto the explorer reportedly sent soldiers to investigate her "Fountain of Youth" as witnessed by a Spanish conquistador helmet which was found not far from the spring.

The Cherokee warrior Wahsega, whom she rejected as a suitor, kidnapped her and took her west to his home. She begged and pleaded for her release, but Wahsega would not permit it. With each day her strength waned, her happiness gone, longing for her mountain forest. Crying tears of pure gold as she lay dying, Trahlyta asked to be buried in the mountain paradise from which she had come. "Strangers, as they pass by, may drop a stone on my grave and they too shall be young and happy, as I once was." she said, "What they wish for shall be theirs!."

The Legend grew, and soon all passersby, would pick up a nearby stone and add it to her grave for good luck. Today her grave is in Stonepile Gap, the spring still exists, and the mountain she lived on, Cedar Mountain, is just a stone's throw away.

Twice the Department of Highways has attempted to move the grave during road construction. Both times at least one person died in an accident while moving the pile. The stone grave remains today in the same place it has always been.

Me and Jenn both placed rocks on the grave.

We went back to baby land again where they have all the cabbage patch dolls

We also saw many of the latest movies together, we do love our movies.

we also visited stone mountain again,

I think every time I go there, I like it more,

we played mini golf and went on the sky ride, and had our dinner at the camp fire cafe. There is a duck ride there and we both love to go on that, its a truck that can go in the water and it is a very relaxing experience and I would recommend it if you ever go to stone mountain park

we stopped at the varsity which has to be the worlds biggest drive through and the food is great, we stopped on the way to Atlanta.

for the first time Me and Jenn visited the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.

I had never been to a  Aquarium before so I didn't know what to expect.
it was like a different world,

and there was fish I didn't even know existed.

I touched the back of a sting ray, I saw sharks and whales and the best part by far was seeing the Dolphins,

and they even had their own little show, It was magical
and in one part of the aquarium we walked through a glass top tunnel,  it was under the pool that had all the fish in it and when I looked up I could see all the fish , it was amazing.

on the last night, we went do medieval times , I really do like it there, its action and a meal at the same time, what could be better.

Once again time was upon us and I had to go back to England, I always hate that part.
I think it is possibly the hardest thing I ever have to do.

But I have already booked my ticket for July and I cant wait to be there.

Thank you so much for reading mine and Jenn's story

I love you Jenn

My new Emploment

Recently I was made redundant from Blockbuster, all stores are now gone and it is the end of a great company. I miss all my old work mates and I do miss the job.

However just 48 hours after been made redundant I was found  by Austin Reed.

Austin Reed is a company that sells suits and the difference between what I used to do and this job is as different as night and day.  and the first day I started I felt very lost, it was completely different from anything I had been used to, apart from customer service.

My new job is to sell suits and clothing to the public, and I must say so far it is alot tougher to sell than a DVD or game. and takes far longer talking to customers. But I actually see this as a challenge, and I love challenges.

I am also having to get used to folding clothing, I am the first to admit that I am not one for folding my own clothing, if you were to see my bedroom it  has clothing that is not folded, but just put in piles next to my cupboard or chucked in my cupboard. but with my new job I am folding clothing very well and it is actually giving me motivation to start folding my own clothing.

Before I worked at my new job, I just saw a suit as a suit, the only difference between them all was the colour , but now I am learning all the differences and that some colours look identical until you get them in to the sunlight. and that there are many different materials. from herringbone to Birdseye and even different collars, from peak to notch.

its so much to take in but I am getting there, and with a great team to help me I am sure Ill be doing well there.

on another note I now have 49 views on my video of me eating the ghost chili so thank you all so much if you watched it. I got more coming soon.

thank you so much for reading

A Year in review

What a year 2013 has been, I always take a look back over my year, but usually in my head, but I thought if I put it on here then years from now I can always look back and remember just how my year went.

While I can't remember every detail I can remember the things that are important and have had a impact, and there are quite a few events this year that have changed they way of life that I was used to

Well the main thing is always going to see My beautiful Jenn, and Anybody who reads my blogs will know that mine and Jennifer's adventures are usually my main topic. We always have so much fun and I write all about what we do on here so that I may look back and remember and I also like to share our story so that others may read if they wish. I got to see my beautiful Jenn on three visits this year, for two weeks at a time. and I am already planning my next visit.

Every so often in life something will come along that will put a bump in the road, and this was one of those years where that happened. For 13 years I had worked at blockbuster video, I was very good at my job and very happy there and was well known not just by the company but by the customers. I had spent years building a trust with customers and getting to know so many of them very well.

I was nominated three years running for the king of customer care by the city , which is a very big achievement just to be mentioned in such a event.

As many will know Blockbuster went in to administration twice in one year, and me and 800 other staff were all made redundant. It was very sad for all of us who had lost their jobs and I found my self wondering just what I was going to do. I had not been out of work for most of my working life so far.

It seems that I was been sought after though, and I was plucked from been unemployed and was back in work just 48 hours after I had been made redundant, while it was because of my skills that I was been hunted for my present job, I consider my self very VERY lucky to have found work so soon after been made redundant. I know just how hard it can be to find work in today's society and even harder to keep a job, there must be a angel watching over me.

So I am now a employee of Austin Reed. A company that deals in suits of the highest standard, been royally appointed to make suits twice. The job is completely different from blockbuster, so I am having to learn from scratch, I never knew there was so much to a suit before.

I am learning that to sell a suit takes alot more skill than to sell a DVD, but however the basic principle remains the same..Customer care which I consider my self to be excellent at doing.
So its not all strange as it would seem at first.

Earlier this year, I nearly lost my sister, that was a big scare, but she is fully recovered now and is happy and having fun. she is learning to cope with her diabetes very well.

My family is all happy and doing very well also.

As for me and Jennifer, We are doing better than ever, and while we miss each other every day we are apart we are both happy and full of love. We are both looking to be together again very soon and also have been discussing me moving over to America to live there with her. it will take a while and lots of work for us, but it is something we both want and know that it will make us even happier. I will be writing posts on how it goes with this subject in the near future.

So that while been short is my year in review.

I know that I am so lucky in my life to have what I  have, there are people in the world who have far less than I have. I am always grateful every day for the things I have and the people who are in my life.

I think the lesson I will take from this year is that, nothing should ever be taken for granted, you should try to enjoy what you have every day because you never know just what waits around the corner, but hopefully and with luck it is something amazing and full of joy that waits for us all.

I wish all who read this a very happy new year. I will keep you all posted on mine and Jennifer's adventures and other little story's that happen in my life.

Thanks for reading.

November/December with my Jenn

Welcome to my story of my visit to see my Beautiful Jenn.

This time we decided that we would see each other at the end of November and in to early December, Jenn's birthday is in November and with Christmas just round the corner it would be a late birthday present . / early Christmases present for Jenn.

I got to Atlanta on the 25th of November, Jenn as always was there waiting for me. The first thing I do, when I get off the plane apart from collect my baggage is call Jenn to tell her I have arrived. we even have our own meeting spot now where we always meet every time.

and the first thing we do is give each other a hug and kiss. and we leave the airport together and off on our adventures. I always want to get as far away from the airport as possible when I get there, while I am there I don't like the airport because it makes me think of the fact that my time there is not so long.

This time Jenn had time off work for thanksgiving week so we got to spend all day everyday together, that made us both very happy and we tried to pack as much fun in to every moment as possible.

The first place we visited on our travels was a place both me and my beautiful Jenn love, Dahlonega.
We always visit this place and it has very special meaning for me and Jenn, and we both love the mountains so it's great. If you love Christmas lights its full of them around December 1st on wards, and has a Chick-fil-A which just makes it all the better.
I used to love McDonald's and still do, but over the years, the Chick has slowly but surly overtaken as my favourite fast food place.
When we got to Dahlonega first time on this trip the lights were not up yet, so we spend the first night there and enjoyed the square and looking around all the stores. there is a little glass store just on the corner of Dahlonega square , me and Jenn always visit there and get a lucky bag which has a small glass ornament inside. we must have close to 50 of them now, they are really cool.

Me and Jenn also take time to go visist the cat house while we are together, its a house for cats that dont have a home and can be adopted.

Next stop was at the Dillard house, this is another one of mine and Jenn's favourite places to visit.
It's a quiet place hidden in between the mountains and hills of Georgia.

While the weather was rainy we made the most of the house. there are so many things to do there, but every view is amazing and the food is great, all traditional southern food that they bring to your table all in separate bowls so you can take your pick of what you like.

I looovee the cinnamon jam and bread rolls.

We only stopped at the Dillard house for one night , then we headed out to Jennifer's grandparent's.  for my very first American thanks giving dinner.
This was a very big step in our relationship as I had never met them before and both me and Jennifer were a little nervous.

But I have never been made to feel more welcome, they were so very nice and did everything to make me feel at home there. and the food was so very good.

I even had a taste of Squirrel, it was actually not to bad, tasted like chicken.
But I know I will feel slightly guilty the next time I see a squirrel.

Another new thing I tried this time round, or should I say Jenn talked me in to trying was having a pedicure  on my feet. I had never thought about doing something like this but when Jenn suggested it I thought...why not.

we got to the place, I was sat in a chair and put my feet in a small foot spar, next thing I know the seat is moving and massaging my back. and then the fun began. I am not used to other people touching my feet, so when the lady starts chopping at my toe nails and giving them a polish I'm trying my best not to laugh out loud. I'm not ticklish , it just felt very odd.

A sport both me and my beautiful Jenn are both becoming quite good at is miniature golf, now when I say good, I mean we can actually hit the ball, and most of the rest of it is just luck, or at least it is for my part. and me and Jenn both played a few rounds. in the dark but with UV lights to make things glow which made it all the more fun

.

Me and my Jenn Went to Stone Mountain Park again, using our annual passes that we bought when I was With my Jenn from the time before. I think stone mountain is one of our favourite places to go.

We took the sky lift to the top of the mountain.

The view up there is truly amazing and the air does feel clearer up there.

we wonder around the many attractions at the park
We went to the Campfire restaurant , it has some great food there, and also saw the Polar Express in 4d. we saw shows and bought lots of great stuff there.

We visited a plantation museum at the park also which is very educational and shows just how people would live in the past.

Again it was all to soon that I had to go back to England, the time always goes to fast and I always try not to count the days I have left.
I always think of the john Denver song called Today,

it always reminds me to not think about tomorrow, but instead to enjoy what I have today, so instead of thinking of when I have to go back I think of what i have on that day, the fact that I am with my beautiful Jenn and that we have all the day together.

I love you my beautiful Jenn

Thanks to anybody who reads mine and Jenn's adventures

A day I will never forget

This week has been crazy to say the least, but mainly Saturday evening Sunday morning were one of the craziest ever.

It all started on Saturday night, my mom had cooked us some lamb and vegetables, I had got home from work and we sat and ate them, the meal was great, mom hadn't felt to well most of the day and had decided she would go to bed. I was working from 12pm till 10 pm the next morning, but i was staying up to talk with my beautiful Jenn and watch some TV.

I got to bed at about 3am, and soon after feel to sleep. I can't remember the dream I was having but it was soon interrupted by a buzzing from my phone, I opened my eyes and thought surly that can't be my alarm, I looked at my phone to see it was my mother calling. I answer in my sleepy voice and my mother is asking me to come to her room because she is having chest pains. Straight away Alarm bells ring, I go in to my mothers room to find her laid in bed and not looking so good.

We called 111 which is a medical advice line, and they decided to send out a ambulance to asses the situation first hand. they looked at her chest, monitored her heart rate and blood pressure, everything seems fine, but they insisted she went to hospital just in case they had missed something.

We got to hospital at about 5am, and waited in a area where my mother was assessed buy medics. they decided she would need a xray and her blood taken . but she had been strapped to a monitor again, they said that all her stats were great so now were puzzled as to what had caused the pain in her chest.

so it came time for her blood tests after hours of waiting, the time was now 11oclock we had been at hospital for 6 hours, My mom had slept a lot of it, lucky I had my trusty galaxy s3 to pass the time.

so at eleven my niece Natalie showed up and so me Natalie and my mother waited for the blood results to see what had actually happened. it was about 12pm by this point, now here is where the tale takes a very unexpected turn.

My sister who had not been feeling so good over the last few days had, now taken a turn for the worst also, she had been recently told she had diabetes. she had also come down with a stomach bug. With the combination of the two elements, my sisters blood sugar levels had gone through the roof.  My bother in law had called for a ambulance, and they were trying to get my sister better in the ambulance before they set of for the hospital. they had tried to measure her blood sugar levels. A normal persons blood sugar levels is between 6 to 10, the monitor they use can measure up to 50.. my sisters blood sugar levels were off the chart. they couldn't measure her levels because they were to high

Mean while at the hospital , Mom was still waiting for her results, the nurse had said it wouldn't be to long, but now we had learnt of my sister, and that she was on her way to the accident and emergency ward. which was just a minute walk away from where we was.

So I was now thinking to run round to accident and emergency, My mom decided to call the ward from where we were in the hospital to ask if my sister had been admitted. Mom looked and gave me the nod to say she was at the hospital, I got up and ran to the accident and emergency. I soon found the part where my sister was, I doctor allowed me through the doors. and nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to see.

I walk to the  where my sister was, and turned in through the door, My sister was laid on a bed, and it wasn't the usual "hey bro how are you ?" that my sister always greeted me with.  She was just laid on the bed, very pale in colour and not really responding to my "Hey sis".  her body looked like a shell, but I could still see my sister in her eyes. she started to breath in a way that said she recognised me. but no words came out. she was very weak, and was having a struggle just to move her head. I held my sisters hand and told her it was gonna be ok.

I asked the doctor if she was gonna be ok, they said they would have to move her to intensive care. so I didn't want to leave my sister , but my mother needed me also. so I had to run back to my mother while the nurse and doctor tried to bring my sisters blood sugar down.  and my brother in law and my niece Naomie would soon be there to help with my sister.

So back to mother I went, with news of my sister, My mother as soon as she heard what I had to tell got straight in to a wheel chair and asked me to take her there, he blood results were due any moment, but Mom didn't care about that. I took my mother through to where my sister was. My mother had been a nurse for most of her working career, nearly 40 years. so she knew what to look at. I rolled my mother to the room and up to the side of my sisters bed. My mother was so calm, she took my sisters hand and gave her a kiss on the head and told her not to worry it was going to be ok. My brother in law  Shane and Naomie had now got to the hospital.

we only stayed with my sister a few minutes before we had to go back to find out what had been causing my mothers chest pain which had now gone. We got back to my mothers ward and out came the nurse with the results. The nurse sat down beside my mother and looked at the notes she had with her.  My mother said " ok whats wrong with me" the nurse looked at my mother and said ......"Nothing at all, you have pulled a muscle in your upper chest, most likely from daily activity's"
she then said that my mothers results showed no unusual activity and her blood pressure was spot on , her heart was as good as ever , she was free to go home.

We decided to go see my sister one more time before we headed for home. we went back to my sisters ward and the entire family was there. and I said "Well this is one family outing Ill never forget, but next time lets pick a better place than the hospital please".

me and mom left the hospital, and got back to the house, I set straight off for work with only 5 hours sleep in two days. I did a 7 hour shift and I slept for 11 hours that night.

My Sister is now on the road to recovery and back at her home. She isn't 100 percent better yet , but she is getting a little better every day.

My trip to see my beautiful Jenn august/september 2013

I have been to see my beautiful Jenn again, I got here on august 25, and every day has been so perfect. We have loved seeing each other again and been with each other, and are already talking about my next visit which we are hoping for in November December time.

So what did we get up to this time, Well we have been to see some movies together, and ate popcorn and had icy drinks. and also I managed to spill the popcorn right at the front of the que to get some more butter for the popcorn.
We also went to a house full of cats, I have never seen so many cats in once place at the same time, and they all got along with each other, I have three cats and they don't get along all the time.
We held them and cuddled them, they were all so cute.

we also bought some new shoes , but I haven't put them on yet, I am gonna retire my old pair right before I leave for England.  and the new pair shall see me through till I get back to be with my Jenn again in November, I am very sentimental and I just see it as good luck, kind of like they will keep me safe and comfy while I am away from my Jenn.

We for the first weekend went to the Dillard house, a place surrounded by mountains in Georgia, and very traditional to the southern ways of life.  it was a place where time had stood still, or should I say it had been un interrupted by time, or at least that's what it felt like to me and it was perfect for that reason. My greatest joy there was sitting on the porch in a rocking chair looking at green fields and mountains with my Beautiful Jenn. I could have quite easily stayed in that moment forever, it was perfect. Their food was also traditional, and I tried every item on the table, from grits to cheese bread and even watermelon, it was soo good and if anybody who reads this gets the chance to go there....Take it, you wont be disappointed. I can say I have experienced the true southern hospitality.

we also went to two of the zoo's in that weekend, me and Jenn love animals, and we got to feed them and hold some of them and even hold snakes .
We also visited a place on the highway, and what made it unique is there were goats on the roof, just walking around and sitting down. it was very...odd but good.

while I have been here, I have also been keeping up with my running, Jenn bought me a fitbit flex, its a wrist band that tracks my movements such as , steps taken miles walked or run, it even tracks my sleep, and it has lights on it and for every achievement I hit, a light comes on,,, it even has a silent alarm, I love it and thank you Jenn for getting it for me.

Me and my Jenn decided we would go to a place called medieval times.
It was the first time we had ever been to a place like it. as the name says, everything was set in the medieval times. soon as we went past the gate, people were dressed as maids or as squires and knights in armour.

we waited in the lobby for a while before been allowed in to the main hall, where it was a arena surrounded by different colour tables  and the colour table you sat at was the same colour as the knight that was from your kingdom and the one that you would support. there were six knights, all in competion against each other in different medieval events. ours was the green knight. and he won the tournament.

each one of the foods served were given a different name..
Chicken was Baby Dragon, scallops were Dragon scales and soup was Dragon blood.
it was a great night and me and Jenn had so much fun, I would definitely recommend it to anybody.

for the last weekend of this visit, we decided to go to Stone mountain park, a favourite place for me and my Jenn. and we got a annual pass that allows us to get on most of the rides for free for the year. and with me going back to be with my Jenn in November it will come in useful.

At Stone mountain we went on a duck ride that took us across the lakes of Stone mountain and saw some amazing sites, we also took a ride on the train that goes around the mountain and took a ride on the sky lift to the top of stone mountain. from the top of the mountain , you can see for miles , I could see the city of Atlanta. soon night time came and we went to see the laser show at stone mountain which was lots of fun.

on my last day of the visit , me and my Jenn packed as much fun as possible in to the last few hours as possible.  We played mini golf, saw a 4D movie and went on the Train again , We also visited a plantation , that had once belonged to a family who lived near stone mountain . We really had so much fun.

I can't wait until I go back to be with my Beautiful Jenn in November, it is only 65 days away.
but I will miss my Jenn every second until then..I love you my beautiful Jenn.

Thank you for reading .
