Myths and legends true or false ?

Ok so here is this weeks myth wich is one that has been around for afew centuries now
The myth of the zombie. As per usual I will present all my readers If any apart from My beautiful Jenn and my good friend Morgan With all the facts. Ok here goes

The myth of the zombie.

Now there has never been a repoeted sighting of a actual classic movie Zombie that walks at a Snails pace has no reasoning power and has a hunger for the living flesh. If you ask my mother she will tell you about how I look like one of the living dead when I get up in the whatever time of the day. InFact this one at first glance would look like another Hollywood yarn made up for our amusment.

George Ramero director of Night of the living dead, Day of the dead and the classic Dawn of the dead was once asked where he got the idea for the Zombies and said "Have you ever walked through a mall and taken a good look at the people walking around? they just walk and look With no Life behind there eyes they are all to busy With there lives to even smile at eachother half the time and the walk so slow as they look mindless at the products that they will purchas."

So from the sounds of it the myth actualy came from a exaggeration of humans doing there every day activitys but that is not so to find the root of this myth you have to go to Haiti.
this myth belongs to the voodoo cuture.

Zora Neale Hurston encountered the case of a woman that appeared in a village, and a family claimed she was Felicia Felix-Mentor, a relative who had died and been buried in 1907 at the age of 29. Hurston pursued rumors that the affected persons were given powerful drugs, but she was unable to locate individuals willing to offer much information. She wrote:

“ What is more, if science ever gets to the bottom of Voodoo in Haiti and Africa, it will be found that some important medical secrets, still unknown to medical science, give it its power, rather than gestures of ceremony.[4] ”

The bove segment was taken from a web page about the voodoo culture and It would apear that the dead had indeed risen so with that story in mind could it actualy be possible that zombies are real?.

If voodoo has the power to raise the dead then it is true and even the bible gives referance to the dead rising from the grave on the final days but I have yet to see a zombie walk down the street or infact be walking at all but just because I havnt seen them dosnt mean they dont exist in some shape or form the voodoo ritual seems to be people in a drugged up state of mind but I could be wrong.

I think Im gonna have to give this one a myth busted status for now.

while there is plenty of evidence to support this myth there just that bit more to dismiss it
apart from my mother who swears im a zombie first thing in the morning lol.

If anyone has any opinion on my topic for this week then please leave a comment

Myths and legends true or false ?

This week Im going to look in to the legend of Dracula.

Dracula Is probably as well know as santa clause around the world and the legend has been alive for centuries but this is a look at what is true and false in my opinion based upon my reserch through the internet and genaral knowlege so lets get started.

The name Dracula is actualy the surname of Prince vlad the 3rd also known as the impaler who was born in Sighisoara, Transylvania in 1431 and died in 1476 at the age of 42. second son of vlad the 2nd Dracula and Cneajna of Moldavia his family lived in exile in Transylvania because his father had been ousted by pro-Ottoman boyars. before that his father had lived in Nuremburg.

So there is the stroy of the man so where did the legend of the vampire all begin. Well the charicter of count Dracula is actually taken from a book written in 1897 by the writer Bram stoker who refers to Dracula as a monster who Lives in a castle and drinks the blood of his victims and turns in to a bat has no relfection and never dies of old age.

But Dosn't that make vlad inocent of all the rumours and storys of horror I mean Bram stoker took some poor guys name and turned him In to a monster right?....WRONG!!!!.

Vlad the impaler got his name the impaler because of he cruel torture he would inflict on his enemies. He impaled thousands of people on spears and even drank the blood of his enemies
So while this man may not have been the monster that superstion diplicts he was this man was far worse he was a true monster a man who killed thousands and whos legend im sure will live on for centuries to come.

So the legend of dracula been a vampire and flying around and living forever Is busted he was just a evil man who's name has been used to entertain people.

If you have any points of view on my Myth busting then please leave a comment.

Next weeks myth is the Myth of the zombie

On thursday a spectial on the legend of how thanks giving all started.

Myths and legends true or false ?

This blog is in relation to a dream that My Jenn had

The dream was about werewolves so I figgured I would write a blog about different Myths and legends once a week and I will even do some studying on the myth or legend in question and then try to findout if the myths or legends can be classed as true or false. The first One is a myth and Is about Werewolves so here goes.

The first recorded Werewolf sighting took place around the countryside of German town Colongne and Bedburg in 1591. An age-old pamphlet describes those shivering moments vividly. Few people cornered a large wolf and set their dogs upon it. They started to pierce it with sharp sticks and spears. Surprisingly the ferocious wolf did not run away or tried to protect itself, rather it stood up and turned out to be a middle-aged man he was Peter Stubbe from the same village.

Stubbe was put on a torture wheel where he confessed sixteen murders including two pregnant women and thirteen children. The history behind his downfall was rather bizarre. He had started to practice sorcery when he was only 12 and was so obsessed with it that even tried to make a pact with the Devil. Wearing a magic girdle he started to attack his enemies, real or imaginary. After several months, he would take the guise of a wolf and continued with his evil acts with more brutality. In the wolf form he used to tear up victims’ throats and suck warm blood from veins. Gradually his thirst for blood grew and he roamed around fields in search of prey.

This is one of many stories about werewolves but dosn't give any indication to wether the were Werewolf myth is from fact or fiction. There has never been a dead werewolf recoverd or anyone actualy seen to bee changing in to a Werewolf but there are so many tales and even movies about them so the idea must have come from somewhere.

During the middle ages in england there were many reports of packs of wolves that would roam around the country side and ocasonaly eat a lamb or a deer and it was rumor that the wolf pack would every so often eat a small child. With that in mind I cant think of a better ghost story to tell the kids than somthing along the lines of a werewolf story to stop the children from going on to the countryside alone so maybe thats it, It all started as a story to scare the children out of wondering away in to the night and on to the moors where the pack of wolves would be hunting

So it's starting to seem more and more like a myth but however what if we look into the possiblity of it been some kind of disorder kind of like out of control hair growth wich is actualy a real possibility and there is proof of that.

Here is a picture and indeed living proof of the closest thing to a werewolf and this is the result of a disorder to do with over active hair growth. so this must be where the myth of the werewolf came from mybe this happend to someone in a age where there was no cure or knowelge of the disease and so the unlucky man or even woman was called a werewolf.

So as for the person changing from humanoid in to werewolf in my opinion is a false myth
but with the evidence on this blog it's not very hard to see where the myth came from

so this myth is busted.

If you have any arguments or ideas on my myth busting please post a comment

A quote to remember by Winston Churchil

Winston Chirchil was the prime minitster of England and is still regarded even today as one of Englands best ever prime ministers. It was Winston churchil and his band of spitfire squadrons that halted the German invasion attempts and air raids over england.

one of the most famous quotes by Sir Churchil and the one I'm gonna write about is one he said when things looked at there worst for England and most of Europe and the quote isn't very long but It has so much meaning behind it not just for me but I'm sure for every one who reads it is

"If your going through Hell.... Keep going!".

This quote means to me that sometimes in life not everything goes as planned and things may seem to be going wrong or you may be down on your luck and it only seems to be getting worse
but hang on keep going there is light at the end of the tunnel there is a better day keep hope in your heart and never give up you can make it hold on to your dreams because if you truly belive then it can happen it will get better your dreams will come true never give up

please leave a comment as to what this quote means to you

Request response

My friend Morgan asked me to write about this quote

Marianne Williamson said:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

This statment means to me

If you do the best you can do and be the best you can be and help others in there hour of need then you will be a great person to your self and everyone els
Be exellent to one another
